Birthdays

Today was my birthday. Forty-nine--how does one get 49? What does one learn in 49 years? I have learned lots of "stuff" not from professors or educators, but from family and friends and just the world around me. Here are just a few things...

Love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind.
Tell those that you love, that you love them--often, you may not get another chance.
Let old hurts go...it is so easy to get bogged down in petty stuff.
Don't be afraid to cry...
Be happy everyday.
Smile ALOT--I don't have many wrinkles....yet, but the ones I have are smile wrinkles and I LIKE them!
Be honest--even if it hurts sometimes.
Accept the way things are if you can't change them. If you can change them, the get with it!
Age is a number. Keep your mind and brain healthy--even if it does take you a few extra minutes to get out of the bed in the morning.
Love and forgive yourself first, because you cannot do this for anyone else unless you do it for you.
Make new friends.
Be the best boss, friend, parent, sibling, child, employee that you can be...someone is always watching you.
Be positive.
Count your blessings.
Be someone's inspiration.
Wave at children on the school bus.
Take time to smell the roses.
Make a difference in someone's life however you can. Little kindnesses go a long way.
Pay it forward.
Do something nice when no one is watching.
Make your life a symphony of prayer. Others will know you by the faith you wear on your sleeve.
Remember--attitude is everything!

I am not always successful at all of these things. But, if I did each one of them I am sure whateve time I have here on this earth would be full and fruitful.

I am thankful for 49 wonderful years...wonderful parents that adopted me and loved me more than anyone ever could; a loving brother; an absolutely awesome husband; four sons and two daughter-in-laws; friends that make life a laughing matter; a job that is fulfilling and employees that make my job a true blessing; most of all, a God that loves me no matter what--these are the things that make my life full and rich beyond belief.

I am so blessed and looking for to the usually dreaded 5-0!!
